Joplin Guitarist Regrets Leaving Band

Who could forget Janis Joplin’s parting from Big Brother and the Holding Company in December 1968?  Joplin wasn’t happy with the band due to its musical direction as well as the commitment of certain members.

View post on

Less than a month after leaving the band, she formed The Kozmic Blues Band which featured guitarist Sam Andrew from Big Brother as well. “It was a really stupid decision, but she talked me into it,” Andrew told Music Radar in 2012. “I wish I had been stronger and said no.”  According to Andrew, because of drugs, and just the timing in general, life was a little crazy after leaving Big Brother. Joplin eventually fired Andrew from The Kozmic Blues Band.
