The Factory Girls directed by Amelia Ui Mhaidin who is assisted by Catherine Bradley. Tickets: €15.00 Waterford Dramatic Society presents "The Factory Girls" by Frank Mc Guinness which is set in a shirt factory in Co. Donegal in the 1980's. It centres around five women facing the threat of redundancy, who stage a lock-in to fight for their jobs. With rapier sharp wit and huge heart they pull together as one and take on the might of big business, however as their protest continues the women learn about each other and themselves as they explore their anger, courage and compassion. As we journey with these women, played with spirit and conviction by Jane Leslie, Geri Oakes, Natasha Delaney, Michelle Devereaux-White and Elaine O'Brien, we laugh, cry and empathise with them in equal measure. They can bicker and joke for Ireland but each woman has a dream or a secret that unfolds as the drama reaches its' conclusion. Don't worry - the men do appear, played by Brian Coady and Mick Lee and they make their mark but in the end this is the women's story and you will come away marvelling at their resilience and unfailing sense of humour.
