Urgent Call for Volunteers to Donate Their Time to Help “Fill the Bag” to Create

10,000 Meals for Long Island’s Hungry and Super-storm Sandy Families in Need

Mid Island Collision Donates Over $100,000 in Non-Perishable Food Items to Feed Long Islanders

Robert Jesberger, owner of Mid Island Collision, a Rockville Center based automotive repair center, recently purchased over $100,000 in non-perishable food items, enough to fill five tractor-trailers, which will provide over 10,000 Thanksgiving meals to Long Island charitable organizations and individuals and families devastated by super-storm Sandy. Jesberger is calling for hundreds of volunteers to donate some of their time between 12pm, November 20 throughout the night to 2pm, November 21 to assist in creating bags of meals.

“Super-storm Sandy left thousands of people desperate and devastated; we need to do what we can to help them out in whatever ways possible,” said Robert Jesberger, owner of Mid Island Collision. “Purchasing over $100,000 in food items and hosting the “Fill-the-Bag” event allows my employees and I to continue to pay it forward by providing families with a holiday meal. Fellow Long Islanders are looking for a way to help and now they can, by simply giving their time.”

For 25 years, Mid Island Collision’s holiday tradition food drives have benefited close to one million Long Islanders in need.  This year’s “Fill-the-Bag’ meals will be picked up by Long Island residents as well as charity organizations including WhyHunger, Long Island Association Aids Care, Meals on Wheels Association of America, Wounded Warrior Project, Building Homes for Heroes, The Inn in Hempstead, the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth and countless schools, churches, synagogues and more.

“Mid Island Collision is more than just a center for auto repair. We care about people and will do what we can in order to help those who are less fortunate, “stated Jesberger. “With the help of volunteers, thousands of people will be able to have a healthy meal this Thanksgiving holiday.”
