The Downtown Cafe in Glen Cove is hosting our 6th consecutive St Baldricks Fundraiser on Sunday March 17th at 12:30pm. This years event, just like the last few, will coincide with the St Patricks Day Parade that Glen Cove Hibernians run. In our previous 5 events we have raised over $150,000 and this year with a little less than 3 weeks to go we have raised over $8,000. Also, at last years event we had about 120 people shave their heads. 5 of which were women.

If you are not familiar with this event it is a fundraiser where people come to shave their heads and stand in solidarity with the children who have  lost their hair from chemotherapy radiation. All money raised from the hair cutting portion of the event go towards childrens needs that are going through different types of cancers.

This year we are also selling Bracelets, T-shirts, and little shamrocks with peoples names on them (that are all around the restaurant), but this money is being raised for a little boy in our home town called Nicholas Pedone. Nicholas has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at the end of October, and we as a community have been helping raise money for his healthcare costs with different types of fundraisers.
