CAROL HOENIG, Publishing Consultant, Inc.Recipient, "2013 Outstanding Advocate for the Arts Award"The Long Island Arts Council at Freeport recently named Carol Hoenig as a recipient of a 2013 OUTSTANDING ADVOCATE FOR THE ARTS AWARD.  Carol will be honored on Wednesday, March 13th at Adelphi University's Performing Arts Center for her outstanding contributions toward the advancement and education of the arts on Long Island.Please help support Carol in her goal to raise a minimum of $1,000 for this important fundraiser.Proceeds support the Long Island Art Council at Freeport's important programs and services for the children and families of the region! Carol Hoenig, President of Carol Hoenig, Publishing Consultant, Inc. works with authors and publishers in a variety of ways, from putting together book proposals to creating publicity and marketing campaigns. Prior to starting her business in 2005, Carol worked at Borders Group, Inc. as National Event Specialist for many years booking authors and musicians, including former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, Tony Bennett, Walter Cronkite, Kurt Vonnegut and Frank McCourt, to name a few.Carol is co-partner for Kids Who Think Outside the Box franchise (www.KidsWhoThinkOutsidetheBox.com) and was on the advisory council for Author Solutions and was on The New York Center for Independent Publishing advisory council and writer’s conference committee for five years before it disbanded.  She is also an executive committee member for that National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Books for A Better Life. She was the Director and Writer-in-Residence for Old Forge Library Adirondack Summer Writing Workshop for 2008. She was the project manager for the General Society of Mechanics & Tradesmen Labor, Landmarks and Literature series in Manhattan during the fall 2011 season, and is a member of the Women’s Media Group. She has taught continuing education courses at Hofstra University. She was Senior Editor for Digital Americana, the first literary magazine for the Apple iPad.  She has hosted Webinars on a variety of topics of interest to the writing community.In addition to supporting fellow authors, Carol Hoenig is a freelance writer in her own right and was named Best of Long Island Author 2012 by the Long Island Press.Booktango, one of the more recent e-book publishers, approached Carol, inviting her to be one of their beta testers. She took the challenge and published her novel OF LITTLE FAITH, about which a reviewer said the following:  I am reading your new book and loving it. I think it's a brave move. Her novel, WITHOUT GRACE, was awarded the Silver Medal for Book of the Year 2005 by ForeWord Magazine and given First Place for Fiction by the DIY Book Festival. Jada Press and the New York Book Festival also gave her novel honorable mention. Her book THE AUTHOR’S GUIDE TO PLANNING BOOK EVENTS was given the Gold medal by ForeWord Magazine for Book of the Year in the category of writing and named finalist by USA Book and Reader Views.Carol’s essays, articles, book reviews and short stories appear in a wide number of publications. Carol likes to stir things up by blogging for The Huffington Post covering politics, culture, the publishing industry and the writing life. Carol also contributed to PUTTING YOUR PASSION INTO PRINT written by Arielle Eckstudt & David Henry Sterry. Arianna Huffington invited Carol to contribute to ON BECOMING FEARLESS, released in the fall of 2006.  Tory Johnson, ABC’s Good Morning America’s workplace contributor, also invited Carol to submit an essay for her New York Times Bestseller, WILL WORK FROM HOME. Stephanie Gunning invited Carol to submit an essay on creativity for her anthology AUDACIOUS CREATIVITY. Carol’s short story, Snow Angels and Somersaults, was a finalist for the 2007 Spring/Summer Glass Woman Prize, a bi-annual prize for women prose writers.
