In the summer of ’92, Jen Durkin met Dave Hogan and his band Red One at a jam session. After finding mutual influences in The Band, The Dead and Delaney and Bonnie, they wrote some originals and joined up with Andrew Gromiller and Tongue-n-Groove for a benefit concert for Rain Forest Preservation. Now, members of the different projects that spun off these groups are coming together for a 20 year reunion to honor Keyboardist Dave Hellrigel and Bassist Scot Beres with the music that brought them all together.
Dave Hogan is a songwriter and musician from Bridgeport, Connecticut; a veteran of three critically- acclaimed music groups, Red One, The Great Upsetters and The Rafter Bats.
Andrew Gromiller lead Tongue and Groove for four years. After inviting Jen Durkin to become a band member for the last year that the band was together, Andrew headed out West where he started the band “The Organically Grown.” He has produced several CDs including, “The Organic Bananas” a hybrid of Deep Banana and TnG with special guest vocals Cyril and Gaynielle Neville
Jen Durkin went on to be a founding member of Deep Banana Blackout, as well as making a name for herself as lead singer with Bernie Worrell and Mickey Hart and the Rhythm Devils. In 2003, she appeared with the Bomb Squad on the American Music Awards as winners of the Best unsigned band award. After playing all over the country, Jen relocated to Arizona. The Cap is has become her favorite venue and she is excited to play Garcia’s, jam with her old friends and get back to her roots for this one of a kind reunion show.
