"Long Island's Champions for a Cure"to honorSTEVEN FREEPresident, The Bug Stops Here Inc.who will be inducted into the "Class of 2013 Long Island's Champions for a Cure"Steven Free grew up in Brooklyn, New York with his 4 brothers and sisters. His mother was a homemaker while his father protected the streets of New York City as a Detective. Today, Free is committed to his wife of 25 years along with the other pride and joy of his life, his 9 year old son. Free had a desire to help people; not knowing his destiny, he met and befriended Walter Schroeder. Schroeder was a giant leader in the Pest Control industry during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Schroeder quickly became Free’s mentor and the rest is history. Free is on the Board of several Networking Groups including the Long Island Advancement for Small Business (LIASB) which is dedicated to helping small businesses grow. Also, he is apart of the Vistage International Group which helps Presidents and CEO’s of different companies receive insight into their businesses. Free was also appointed to the Long Island Pest Control Association (LIPCA) with his term beginning in January 2011. He serves as a Board Member and Director for this Association. Free is committed to educating the pest control industry as well as the consumer on the ever growing problems of diseases and difficulties from pests. In 2010, Free started his very own Task Force called “The Bed Bug Stops Here” a division of The Bug Stops Here. Sick and tired of companies charging outrageous prices, he drastically cut prices so that the common folk of Long Island can afford it. When consumers cannot afford $5,000 for a Bed Bug Job, they end up going to the store and buying household products that don’t work. Action is needed now. Free is all about being dedicated to the consumer.
