100 Women Who Care about Long Island is a group of local women who are interested in supporting our communities by contributing to Long Island charities together as a group to increase the impact. As individuals it is difficult to make a very large impact, but as a group we believe we have the ability to contribute to the growth of our communities in ways that we never before thought possible. Our mission is to reach out and help our communities by finding at least 100 women to commit to our group. Commitment involves attending four, one-hour meetings a year, and pledging $100 per meeting ($400.00 per year) to support a local charity. If you cannot or prefer not to commit to $100 four times a year, you may partner with another woman to meet the $400 yearly commitment. All charitable organizations must be located in Nassau or Suffolk counties, must provide programs that directly serve the residents of Nassau or Suffolk counties, and must have 501(c)(3) non-profit status. Our goal is to keep our focus local and have an impact that can be seen in our community. This group is perfect for you if:Your time is limitedYou want 100% of your donations to go directly to a charitable organization serving Long IslandYou want to learn about, or let other women know about, the amazing work done by our local non-profits You want to become part of creating a powerful new group of amazing women that will make an immediate, direct and positive impact on Long IslandAt each meeting, an opportunity is provided for three members of the group to present a five minute description of a local organization or agency in need. A Q&A session follows, after which members vote on the charity they wish to support. The winner is announced, and each member writes their $100 check directly to the winning charity. The checks are collected and forwarded to the charity in one gift bag. This allows the charity to feel the huge impact that 100 Women Who Care can make… together. At the following meeting, the winning organization tells us how the money was used, and what impact it had on the community and the charity. How much more powerful can 100 women be? Together, we can significantly impact the many local organizations devoted to improving the lives of Long Islanders.
