FEATURE BIOS:Hip-Hop Artist Charlie Scott, 22, born and raised in Queens, is a recovering addict and the child of two hearing impaired parents who recently released his first mixtape called Lyrical Therapy. Writing poetry since he was 12, Charlie combined his passion for words with rhythmic beats and discovered hip-hop as an outlet to communicate and encourage during his recovery process at a rehabilitation center. Delivering inspiring messages through his outstanding lyrical capability, he offers a refreshing new genre of positive hip-hop, philosophical words, and raw talent, leading various listeners to say, "I don't particularly like rap, but I listen to Charlie Scott." He tours rehabilitation facilities to carry his message of strength and hope, incorporated with music, without asking for payment because "addicts are my people...it's our job to help each other." He’s a recent winner of the Big Apple Indie Music Series, a monthly music and networking industry event featuring the hottest independent pop, rock, country and top 40 acts in the country. Follow him on Twitter @HipHopCharlie and visit his music page @ https://soundcloud.com/charliescotthiphop.Billy Conahan is a rising star - with a bullet - on the New York City hip hop scene and the recent winner of the 2013 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival's Show & Prove Contest. Not only a successful MC, with two mixtapes and a third on the way, Conahan is also a singer/songwriter and actor, making his acting debut in the upcoming independent film, "Milk & Honey," set to be released in late 2013. For free downloads of both mixtapes, visit billyconahan.bandcamp.com / datpiff.com/billyconahan.MC LaurenAsh is one of the fresh female faces of NYC Hip Hop. Fusing old and new school, she seeks to speak the truth painting lyrical images that challenge your thoughts but also make you move your feet. “Embracing a love of Hip Hop allows me to enter into a world that is bigger than me," she says. "It’s a culture that gives me the ability to express myself through music, conversations, the way I dress and the people I associate with. By being a lyricist/MC, the art of music streams daily from my pores.” Originally from Columbus, Ohio, she's been honing her rapping skills since the age of 13 and now prides herself on being the "voice of the people." For more info on LaurenAsh, check out her website @ http://www.lamusicnme.com/. Keon Torres is an MC/Rapper who insists that “if Tupac Shakur and Fiona Apple had a baby,” it would be him. He’s known for his catchy hooks, lyrical rhymes, and hyper-kinetic performance style. He featured in shows all over New York City, including The Underground Lounge, and is a self-described “Controversial Anime Nerd, Atheist, Bohemian, Hippie, Activist, Marijuana Advocate, Revolutionary MC from Planet Earth.” He’s preparing for the release of a new album called 1412. Check out his Facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/TheOfficialKeonKudoTorres1412.Wally Wells is an Eskimo MC from Arctic Alaska. His hometown Kotzebue, Alaska is located 30 miles above the Arctic Circle where there are no roads in or out. He is the son of Michael and Lydia Scott. He left the village for NYC for one thing...Hip Hop. He has been featured on Coast2Coast Mixtapes, has appeared on MTV, and only sparingly eats whale blubber, but enjoys Arctic Circle Wild Salmon. Smooth.DirtyPromesa & Leverage Unit combines the gritty, lyrical style of Public Enemy with the electric beats of Onyx and the gruffness of DMX. Demetrius Lacend aka DirtyPromesa, the founding member of LU, was raised on the hard-knock Morris Avenue streets of the South Bronx. In his teens, he began recording on his grandmother’s karaoke machine before soon forming a group of rappers called The Nexus Supreme Team. Leverage Unit came together in July of this year and its music will force you to your feet, raise your hands, and having you chiming in with the hooks.
