“Collateral Damage: Families of the Incarcerated” will be the topic of the 8th annual John Howard Lecture On Law and Society to be held at Purchase College. The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the college’s Natural Sciences Building, Room 1001.
The lecture, made possible through a generous grant from Dr. Robert Timberger, will feature a documentary film made by Purchase College Film School graduate, Juan Galindo. The film, Collateral Damage: Families of the Incarcerated, looks at Hour Children, an organization in New York City that works with women recently released from prison and their children and seeks to provide a program that enhances their chances of survival as functioning families. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Sister Teresa Fitzgerald, Executive Director of Hour Children, and Dominique Clifford, recently reunited with her daughter after a term of imprisonment.
