The statues of naked male athletes are part of over 600 pieces of art on loan from Greece to the country of Qatar.
The problem comes in the while naked thing. The statues in question have their “male parts” in full view and Qatar says that’s just not something they’re comfortable with.
Qatar covered the statues in their tender areas to make sure they didn’t offend female visitors but when the Greek culture minister visited he was quite upset.
The minister said he "couldn't accept the antiquities not being exhibited in their natural state."
The two works in question were returned by Qatar but the exhibition goes forward with all of the other antiquities including many others with bare-breasted women that seem to be fine with the Qatari officials.
