Front doors inlayed with 22-karat gold leafing and a $2 million marble staircase are included in what is believed to be the highest-priced home in the continental U.S. — a Hillsboro Beach, Florida, mansion listed for $139 million.

The 60,000-square-foot French-inspired estate has 465 feet of ocean front, a 492-foot dock that can accommodate a 185-foot yacht, an underground garage with parking for more than 30 cars, 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms.

Coldwell Banker Realtor William P.D. Pierce is representing the seller, who the Wall Street Journal says is a trust tied to Robert Pereira, the founder of Middlesex Corp., a Massachusetts-based construction company that also has offices in Florida.

While still under construction, the home, called Le Palais Royal, is scheduled to be finished by the end of next year, according to a press release.

Forbes, however, said two California mansions have more expensive price tags than Le Palais Royal, albeit unofficially.

One is the Owlwood Estate, which is actually three properties on their own street. It's smaller than the Palais at only 12,000 square feet but has been owned by Hollywood royalty such as Sonny and Cher, Jayne Mansfield and Tony Curtis. (Video via YouTube / Prestige MLS)

The other is The Manor, aka The Spelling Manor. A little larger than the White House, it was originally Bing Crosby's home, then legendary producer Aaron Spelling's and now the Ecclestone family heiress Petra Stunt's. (Video via Forbes

Both houses are unofficially listed at around $150 million.
