Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced that the Queens Midtown Tunnel, which was flooded from roadway to ceiling following Hurricane Sandy, will reopen to passenger vehicles only in time for Friday morning's rush hour.

service between Canarsie - Rockaway Parkway and 8th Ave resumed this afternoon, following repair work to components inside the Canarsie Tube, which connects the line between Manhattan’s East Side and Brooklyn’s Greenpoint and Williamsburg neighborhoods. The Canarsie Tube was flooded from end to end with ceiling high water following Hurricane Sandy last week.
Subway service is operating on most lines; others are being worked on in hopes of restoring full service system-wide. Access-a-Ride is providing regular service in all five NYC boroughs.
MTA Long Island Rail Road is operating on a modified schedule on all branches except the Long Beach Branch, and restored train service between Greenport and Ronkonkoma. MTA Metro-North Railroad is operating regular service on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines.

Please monitor Service Status for updates on all MTA services.

The LIRR has restored train service between Greenport and Ronkonkoma and has resumed its modified schedule on all branches, except the Long Beach Branch. Customers may experience some residual delays caused by a combination of snow, sleet and high winds from the Nor’easter that hit our area Wednesday night. Customers should also expect longer waits and crowded cars resulting from reduced train capacity in the East River tunnels and heavy passenger volume system-wide.
