Oakland Raiders linebackers coach Sal Sunseri will reportedly be making his return to the SEC as part of Dan Mullen’s inaugural staff at Florida.

According to NFL Insider Adam Caplan, Sunseri is expected to be named the Gators’ defensive line coach “as early as” Wednesday.

Sunseri spent the past three seasons in Oakland coaching under former head coach Jack Del Rio, was was fired on Sunday. He had previously spent two seasons working as the defensive ends coach at Florida State, which succeeded four seasons in the SEC as the assistant head coach and linebackers coach at Alabama (2009-11) and defensive coordinator at Tennessee (2012).

Sunseri won two national championships with the Tide — finishing as a finalist for the Broyles Award in 2011 — as well as the 2013 national championship during his first season with the Seminoles.

Sunseri’s other collegiate assistant coaching stints include Pittsburgh (1985-92), where he served as an interim during the final game of the 1992 season, Iowa Wesleyan (1993), Illinois State (1994), Louisville (1995-97), Alabama A&M (1998-99), Louisiana State (2000) and Michigan State (2001).

The veteran coach also worked as the defensive line coach for the Carolina Panthers (2002-08).
