AN OPEN LETTER TO AMERICA..FROM LONG ISLAND:

By Webmaster

Take a minute to read this open letter from a fellow Long Islander, who like many of us..is just a little teed off at the current state of the economy, government and just about everything else right now. We promise you the letter is an eye opener. By all means leave your thoughts and commentary below!

Hey Guys,

I'm not really sure how to start this, as I've never really written a letter like this, so I'm just gonna go with I gotta a lil story, and a couple of questions that maybe you can help me with,

I consider myself your average everyday blue collar, American, Wbab listener.  I'm learning, that there a lot more like me out here, than I thought, and although I'm an educated man, I am not the best speaker, I say what I think, and that includes some rather colorful words, which you can edit if you wish. But Hey, I'm a Long Islander. Let me explain.

I've lived and worked on L.I. all my life. I've celebrated my LONG GUYLANDNESS in many of our great towns for many years, paid my taxes, voted for my local officials, Married and divorced my high school sweetheart, and raise my kids here, In a land I know is too expensive, but yet my heart just wouldn't be the same someplace else so I soldier on. I am Long Island. I am WBAB.

In Feb of 2009, my house burned down from an electrical short, and we lost everything. The Insurance battle is a nightmare, and the loss has been great, But I soldier on, and make due, cause I'm a Long Islander.

In June the same year, I was laid off "Do to economic decline", Oh well, Fuck it, I soldier on. What else am I gonna do?

I've spent months sending out hundreds of resumes, The jobs aren't out there, But I soldier on.

I've never missed a child support payment, and make do with whatever I have, cause hey..... what else are you gonna do? I'm 40, I am WBAB.

Now, I could find a million reasons to be angry at a million people. It aint fun gauging how much gas $2.00 left in your pocket is gonna get you, but hey..... why complain, it's not gonna get me anywhere but angry, and I'm alive, have a wonderful fiancé, and two healthy strong sons, that I've given my last 5 bucks too.

It's just what you do.........ya know, I am Dad, A Long Islander, an American.

But when I sit down and think about it, and really look around, I keep bumping into people in the same position, EVERY FUCKING WHERE I GO.

Same people that say " hey honey, how bout we don't do presents on our anniversary this year...." It's heart breaking, but we do it. WE ARE LONG ISLAND.

But when does it come the time, as Americans that we actually turn to our Government and say : HEY, YOU GUYS, AND THIS SYSTEM HAVE FAILED US and we want to fix it NOW. I mean, in any other country they'd revolt,  there'd be civil unrest. But we don't, cause we have no idea who to go to anymore. Our Government is too big, and just doesn't listen.

Hey, I don't blame Bush, He inherited years of mess, don't blame Obama either, so did he.......It's no one persons fault, it's years, and years, and years of abuse, and fighting over who's right and who's wrong. BULLSHIT, we're all just motherfucking Americans, screw the political lines and LETS FUCKING FIX IT.

So why can't the president just come out and say :

Dear American people, we are in a time of crisis, that has no immediate resolution. We as a Nation are suffering.

In each and every natural disaster for the last hundred years, You have donated your money, and your time, without question, without prejudice, and with care, what corner of the globe needs your help.

Now, we need you as well. We are asking you to help, in any way you can to donate to our Financial Earthquake and get America back on track.?

WHY ARE WE TO PROUD TO BEG?

8 Hours after Haiti's earthquake, $305 million dollars was raised, by Americans.

I'd gladly donate $10 a week, that I just can't afford, if I knew it was gonna get us out of this mess. I can go a day without eating. For a Job, and the American Dream? Hell yes. I'm an American, I'll Invest in you, because I AM YOU and without each other, we are NOTHING.

So next time you get a politician on your show, ask him/her.

Why are we taxing soft drinks? And raising taxes on Cigarettes? Why aren't we finally legalizing Marijuana or looking at other financial resources, and reaping the financial rewards?

Why the fuck aren't we Begging the public to help ourselves?

I mean shit, every idiot knows you can't help others till you help yourself right?

So who am I gonna call? Give me, WBAB, an idea of who to reach and say I HAVE HAD ENOUGH, FIX IT, or FUCK YOU.

Thanks for great mornings !!!

Waren.
