Nature has had millions of years to bring its ecosystems into equilibrium. But all that work can be turned upside-down when a new species is introduced. Get ready for some of the wildest and most problematic invasive species on the planet.

Giant African land snail

These giant land snails can grow up to 8 inches long and they're invading Miami-Dade County. The Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services officially declared the invasive species a resident of the county.

The giant snails are damaging because they consume over 500 types of plants and can carry a parasite that leads to meningitis in humans. They also can cause structural damage to plaster and stucco.File this under “Is there Insurance for THIS?!?!?!?!”.

Recently there has been a huge influx of a new species of snail in the Sunshine State. It grows up to 8 inches AND it eats Stucco. Stucco eating snails.

Oh yeah it also carries a parasite that causes meningitis in humans too.

Good luck to your folks who live down there. They’ll be moving back home real soon. Read on.
