Can Doctors Save Spiderman?

By Webmaster

Word is that after last week's savage reviews, producers of the troubled "Spider-Man" musical are reaching out to a script doctor. Sources saying producers have asked playwright Roberto Aquirre-Sacasa to rewrite the book. Aquirre-Sacasa, 38, a writer on the HBO series "Big Love," has the credentials, he's written Spider-Man stories for Marvel Comics and has seen the play at least twice.

The New York Times reported that producers have asked Aquirre-Sacasa to rewrite the script, but the playwright has yet to sign on. The original book was written by Lion King and Spiderman director Julie Taymor and Glen Berger. Taymor has reportedly been rewriting scenes of the musical in recent days, trying to spice it up.

"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" - features thrilling aerial stunts and the music of U2 songwriters Bono and The Edge - has become known more for its production troubles than its stage presence. At least four members of the cast have been injured since the $65 million production began previews in November.
