Did U2 Get Spiderman's Director Fired?

Producers of the problem-plagued musical announced Wednesday night that super- star director Julie Taymor has been replaced.

Insiders say Taymor may have doomed herself by trying to tinker with the music. Bono and his U2 band mate The Edge, wrote the score for "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," and Taymor recently brought aboard Broadway musical consultant Paul Bogaev to tune up the music.

One insider told the NY Daily News that "If Bono had wanted Taymor to stay, she'd still be here...he's a huge part of the decision-making that goes on." the show's scheduled opening night will be pushed back from Tuesday March 15th to early summer, the sixth time it's been delayed.
