What a Jerk! Mets Owner Fred Wilpon Rips the Few Players Fans Love

How dare he!! Most Mets fans think Fred Wilpon is what’s really wrong with the team and now he goes and publically trashes some of our favorite players in an article in The New Yorker.

The financially challenged owner tells the magazine:

Jose Reyes will not be getting a big contract from the Mets. "He thinks he's going to get Carl Crawford money…He's had everything wrong with him. He won't get it." (Crawford got a seven-year, $142 million contract with the Red Sox)

Carlos Beltran wasn’t worth the money the team paid for him. Wilpon mentions Beltran's huge postseason with the Houston Astros in 2004 and says, referring to himself: "We had some schmuck in New York who paid him based on that one series. He's 65 to 70 percent of what he was."

David Wright ain’t no big deal. Wilpon said: "Really good kid. A very good player. Not a superstar."

Ike Davis. Wilpon does apparently like the first baseman. He said "Good hitter, S----- team. Good hitter.
