Queen, Metallica with Lou Reed, and Priest in music news…

There are many Queen tribute bands out there but few live up to the real thing, which is why the band’s drummer, Roger Taylor, has embarked on a mission to create the ultimate Queen tribute band.  The rocker is holding an online competition to find members of a group that will play during the Queen Extravaganza, a 2012 tour that includes a production spectacle with a band playing Queen’s music and featuring unseen footage of Freddie Mercury and company.  To enter for your chance to be part of the tribute band, upload your audition to QueenExtravaganza.com.

Metallica’s album with Lou Reed, Lulu, hits shelves on November 1st, but you don’t have to wait that long to hear music from it.  An audio sample of the song “The View” is now streaming at Amazon.com.  The track will be out as a digital single on September 27th.

It’s not easy to ride a big Harley-Davidson on a stage, but Judas Priest singer Rob Halford has been doing just that at the end of every show.  Unfortunately, during the band’s gig in Brasilia, Brazil, last week things didn’t go smoothly and Rob fell off the bike.  He was okay but video of the incident is making the rounds online. Judas Priest will be in the NY area at the Izod Center at the Meadowlands on 11/18.
