Tom Hanks generally plays the good guy in his films. Now we know he's a nice guy in real life.

Check out this ABCNews.com clip from the original, digital video series, “Standing Up for Heroes” which is found at www.abcnews.com/heroesvideo featuring Tom mentoring a veteran through the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation was co-founded by ABC TV journalist Bob Woodruff and his family after he was seriously injured covering the war in Iraq in 2006. I've said many times on the air that we can't just slap a bumper sticker on our cars that says, "support our troops" we have to really do it.

So when I saw these words on the remind.org website "We are ensuring that “Support Our Troops” is no longer a slogan. It’s an action" I was inspired.

"The vision of the Bob Woodruff Foundation is to provide resources and support to injured service members, veterans and their families -- building a movement to empower communities nationwide to take action to successfully reintegrate our nation’s injured heroes—especially those who have sustained the Hidden Injuries of War—back into their communities so they may thrive physically, psychologically, socially and economically."
