Is The Sabbath Reunion In Jeopardy?

Black Sabbath announce new album, 2012 world tour
Black Sabbath announce new album, 2012 world tour

It sounds like Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward may not be getting a fair deal and he has posted a letter to fans on his website saying so. He says he won’t take part in the band’s reunion unless he is given a “fair agreement.”  Ward explains, “I would love nothing more than to be able to proceed with the Black Sabbath album and tour.

However, I am unable to continue unless a ‘signable’ contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band.”

Bill also says, “The place I’m in feels lousy and lonely because as much as I want to play and participate, I also have to stand up for something and not sign on.  If I sign ‘as is,’ I stand to lose my rights, dignity and respectability as a rock musician.” Bill said he is currently in a “holding pattern” but wants to get to work.

He does say that his position is “not greed-driven” but  he would “like something that recognizes and is reflective of [his] contributions to the band.”

According to the U-K People magazine, Sabbath’s tour could earn the band members in excess of 159-million dollars.
