Severely Injured LI Firefighter With Rare Blood Type Needs Help

By Donna Donna

Do you remember the firefighter who came flying out the window of a burning building in Brooklyn on fire last month? The picture was on the front page of all the papers. Read about it here.

Well that was FDNY firefighter Robert Weidmann from Islip Terrace who is also a volly at the Islip Fire Dept. where they are having a blood drive for Robert today (1/13). Wiedmann needs rare Type O negative blood.

Rob was burned over 50 percent of his body, he’s still in the hospital and his friend, Islip firefighter Frank Rucci, tells me he’s in good spirits but he still has a long, tough road ahead of him, so let’s come together for one of Long Island’s first responders today and donate a pint.

The blood drive on Friday, January 13, 2012 is at the Islip Fire Department, 28 Monello Ave., Islip, NY 11751 from 10:00am to 8:00pm. The WBAB rock van will be there from 5PM to 8PM.
