It’s time once again for the annual tribute to Long Island hero James McNaughton.

This year’s event is January 21st from 1PM to 8PM at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh.

If you are unaware, James was a New York City Police Officer who was killed in Iraq in 2005.  James was a staff sergeant with the Army Reserve's 306th Military Police Battalion in Uniondale when he was called up for duty in Iraq in 2002. On August 2nd, 2005, Jimmy's unit was assigned a dangerous mission and Jimmy was one of 3 sergeants eligible for the job.  

Realizing the severity of the mission, Jimmy volunteered for the duty because he knew the other men had children. While on this mission, Jimmy was training an Iraqi officer up in a tower when was struck and killed by a sniper.  James McNaughton was 27when he died and he was the first New York City Cop to give his life for his country as a soldier in the line of duty while serving in Iraq.

The 7^th annual tribute to Jimmy is this Saturday afternoon, January 21st, at Mulcahy's in Wantagh, from 1pm to 8pm.  And it is a SERIOUS party. For a $20 donation there’s live music, free food, drink specials, an extraordinary raffle and Chinese auction and proceeds go to The Wounded Warrior Project, 9-1-1 Veterans and The James McNaughton Foundation.
