Not a lot apparently. VH1 Radio Network asked Jon what the tough part of being Jon Bon Jovi is and he replied, “Not a lot. I mean, sure, I miss holidays and birthdays but you know what, compared to the serviceman who is in Iraq for a year and a half or Afghanistan or just in Germany or Japan or anywhere else that we send these guys or a travelling salesman that travels the world for a living, mine is awful romantic job compared to those, you know, the benefits are great. But these are sacrifices that I chose and it’s not a big deal at the end of the day, obviously.”
It’s good to know that Mr. Bon Jovi has his head screwed on straight and realizes any complaints he might voice would pale in comparison to the troubles of your average Joe. But how has Jon Bon Jovi avoided the pitfalls that many a rich and famous rock star has succumbed to? Jon told Scotland’s Daily Record: "God blessed me. I had a wife who loved me and a family to go home to. As tired and burnt-out as I was, I'm no quitter. There was no way I was gonna die. I'm still here. My health and my family are the core of my being. Without my wife and kids I'd be a dead man. It's a beautiful privilege to still be doing what I'm doing. (It’s a) dream come true."
50 years ago today (3/2) Jon was born John Francis Bongiovi, Jr. in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to a barber father and a Playboy Bunny-turned-florist mother. So happy birthday Jon and we’ll see you at the Bamboozle Festival on May 19 in Asbury Park. Don’t eat too much cake tonight.
Check out the video of Jon’s birthday celebration on stage in Philly four years ago…it’s pretty over the top!
