The 20th Annual Letter Carrier Food Drive is tomorrow is Saturday 5/12, and Helping Stamp Out Hunger is as easy as checking your mailbox. Tomorrow (Saturday, May 12) just leave a bag of non-perishable food where your letter carrier normally delivers your mail. Your letter carrier will then pick up and deliver the food to local Long Island food banks.
Sadly donations have steadily declined since the economic crisis hit several years ago, so please if you’re in a position to help, let’s pick up the slack and donate a little extra this year for our Long Island neighbors that can’t.
Examples of non-perishable items include:
o Canned soup
o Canned meats and fish
o Canned vegetables, fruits and juices
o Boxed goods (such as cereal)
o Pasta and rice
