Hello Sailor! …soldier, airman, and marine too. It’s Fleet Week!

Fleet Week

By Donna Donna

This is the first Memorial Day since the Iraq war ended and there’s no shortage of veterans and active duty military in our area for the annual celebration of Fleet Week.

Fleet Week activities come to Long Island on Saturday for an air demonstration in Eisenhower Park.

Military men and women compete in a tug-of-war and other battles on The Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum at Pier 86; Twelfth Ave. at 46th St. in Manhattan.

The Quantico Marine Corps Band heads to Times Square on Saturday with the Navy Band Northeast Jazz Ensemble.

If you'd like to visit the working ships docked around town head to Piers 90 and 92 in Manhattan, the Sullivans Pier in Staten Island, and the Port Authority Piers in Brooklyn. They’ll be open for visitors to explore with free tours.

Get the complete schedule of Fleet Week activities here.
