After misfiring with ‘Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer’ and ‘Dark Shadows,’ filmmaker Tim Burton is back on top of his game with ‘Frankenweenie.’ This stop action animated monster movie is really a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog, as well as an homage to classic horror films. It’s getting rave reviews with the  film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes giving it an overall 84% positive rating.

Here’s what RT’s critics are saying:

“The best thing about an animated monster movie with this much heart is: It's alive. In the best possible way.”

“This 3-D, black-and-white "family" comedy is the year's most inventive, endearing animated feature.”

“Designed to appeal to both discriminating adults and older kids, the gorgeous, black-and-white stop-motion film is a fresh, clever and affectionate love letter to classic horror movies.”

Check out RT’s “Total Recall: Tim Burton's Best Movies” a countdown of the best-reviewed work of Burton’s career here.
