When 24 year old Seattle resident Michael Henrichsen got the idea to have Billy Idol show up at his birthday party and perform it started out as, according to the Associated Press, "part resume stunt, part charity drive and part heartfelt effort to get his far-flung friends together for a great time."

Well it took 2 years but after putting up his PLAYMYBIRTHDAYBILLYIDOL.COM website, collecting endorsements from celebrities he tracked down in their Seattle appearances, and starting an `80s cover band to play a series of charity concerts called "Billy Idol Aid" that raised more than $10,000 for the American Red Cross and Northwest Harvest, and the Showbox, a Seattle venue that hosted some of the Billy Idol Aid events, made an offer to host the event, Billy relented.

Idol's manager, Tony Dimitriades said, "When we first became aware of Michael's project we were inclined to see it as just another extreme idea from a well-meaning fan...but as Michael's campaign continued, his persistence and resourcefulness won Billy over." Billy made the announcement in a video where he told Henrichsen "People of the world have spoken - the dream will become reality. I will take the stage for what is sure to be one of the most memorable birthday parties your city has ever known!"

Henrichsen says, "It's gonna be pretty much the coolest night ever." The party is Friday night. Happy birthday Mike. Read more.
