Eminem is back. His new album "MMLP2," named after his earlier “Marshal Mathers LP,” comes out Nov. 5th. Check out he first song from the set, "Berzerk." It throws in some Beastie Boys samples but relies heavily on samples from Billy Squier's 1981 hit "The Stroke."
There was some argument in the office here yesterday about whether or not an artist has to pay royalties for songs sampled in hip hop, and the answer is YES they do! So with Eminem being the best selling artist of the 2000s it looks like Billy is in for a big pay day.
What's your opinion of sampling classic riffs from great rock tunes?
