Judge Rules "Cheerleading is not a sport!" By Donna Donna
When a Connecticut university decided to drop women's volleyball in favor of competitive cheerleading to save money, several players and their coach sued, and won. Twice! Once in 2009, and again Monday on appeal. And while it's true that cheerleading is no longer the rah-rah-rah, clap your hands and do a cartwheel activity of our youth, according to the AP "competitive cheerleading had not developed enough to be considered a college sport for Title IX purposes, and he ordered the school to keep the volleyball team and come up with a compliance plan."
