Pink Floyd and The Ramones Added to the Library of Congress

By Donna Donna

Yesterday, the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry announced the the 25 recordings that will be added to its historic record this year.

Each year, under the terms of the National Recording Preservation Act of 2000, the librarian selects 25 recordings that are "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" and at least 10 years old.

This year's recordings span from 1918 to 1980, and include artists as diverse as jazz clarinetist Artie Shaw, country singer Jimmie Davis, and classical pianist Van Cliburn, as well as later artists Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon), Simon and Garfunkle (Sounds of Silence) and The Ramones (The Ramones)!
