Guitarist Gary Moore died Sunday at the age of 58. The rocker, best known for his time with Thin Lizzy, passed away in his sleep early this morning in a hotel in Spain, where he was on vacation.

Moore was brought into Thin Lizzy in 1974 to replace the departing Eric Bell. According to the BBC, Bell was in shock over Moore's death saying, "He was so robust, he wasn't a rock casualty, he was a healthy guy."

Thin Lizzy's Scott Gorham, who played with Moore for a time, said, "He was a superb player and a dedicated musician. I will miss him." In his lifetime, Moore released 20 studio albums with various groups and as a solo artist. No word yet on the cause of his death.

Moore was mentored by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac.
