Olivia Harrison stops campaign for statue of George

There was a campaign in England to put up a statue of George Harrison near his Oxfordshire home but the late rocker’s widow, Olivia, has put a halt to it.

Instead of a bronze sculpture near the place where George lived the last years of his life, Olivia told organizers she would prefer a community project.

According to the BBC, the fear was that the statue would create problems with unwanted fans turning up in the small town.

No word yet on what the community project will be but you can stay up to date on all things George at GeorgeHarrison.com.

Why wouldn’t a small town want the revenue that having an attraction like a statue of George would bring? These are Beatle fans most are older people.

What are they worried about, someone leaving a bouquet of flowers or a picture? Maybe it’s fans taking pictures? What community project is she talking about anyway?

Have everyone clean the streets while dressed like the late Ravi Shankar with “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” playing?

Whatever? I don’t even know why I care. Oh wait I don’t lol
