New Jersey native Robert Randolph cut his teeth and learned his musical abilities in The House of God church. However he honed his craft and carved his career with the inspiration of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Earth Wind and Fire and Sly and the Family Stone among others.
The first time I came across him was on MTV back when they still played music. The song was "I Need More Love" and I was immediately hooked. I saw him at Jones Beach a couple years later and then his Colorblind album came out and I could not stop cranking it. Eric Clapton plays guitar on the Doobie Brothers classic "Jesus is Just Alright" you should check it out.
Two years ago Robert and his band played The Great South Bay Music Festival for our Sticky Finger Run ending. This July saw the release of the newest album "Lickety Split" and this Friday Robert Randolph & The Family Band are playing the Paramount in Huntington.
