50 concerts you’ve seen!

Concerts at Jones Beach

By Joe Rock

Somebody did a thing on Facebook once asking for a list of 50 concerts you’ve seen. My list is below.

What shows have you seen that you will NEVER forget? Tell us on our Facebook page!

You can even leave your most vivid concert memory on our “Labor Day Live Line” at (631)297-7595!!!

OK, here are the rules. Test your memory and your love of live music by listing 50 artists or bands (or as many as you can remember) you've seen in concert. List the first 50 acts that come into your head. An act you saw at a festival and opening acts count, but only if you can't think of 50 other artists. Oh, and list the first concert you ever saw (you can remember that, can’t you)?

First concert I ever saw: that's like asking Hugh Heffner about his first.... Oh never mind you get the picture!!!  Be prepared for some bragging and back stories on this list. Hey it's what I do!!!

Many of these I have seen more than once:
1. Ramones (Saw Joey's brother open for him with the Rattlers at one of many shows!!!)
2. Mason Ruffner (Saw him in a little club and opening for Ringo. Met him on Decatur St. in New Orleans)
3. Tom Petty (Many shows in many states!!!)
4. Nick Lowe
5. Lenny Kravitz (Opening for Tom Petty in Costa Mesa California late 80's)
6. The Georgia Satellites (Soooooo many shows and all of them great!!!)
7. The Del Fuegos (On the Rock N' Roll Caravan Tour with Tom Petty and The Georgia Satellites)
8. Dave Alvin (Brought him on stage at the Stephen Talkhouse hung out together before the show)
9. The BoDeans (Saw Sheryl Crow open for them at Irving Plaza before her first record came out)
10. Joan Jett
11. Squeeze
12. The Who (Best show was October 2000 MSG Roger, Pete, John and their best drummer ever Zack Starkey (Ringo's son)
13. Roy Orbison (A few times last was right before he passed, Brilliant and other worldly!!!)
14. Bo Diddley
15. Ani Defranco
16. Richard Thompson (Met him brought him on stage. Can't believe he plays like that!!!)
17. Elvis Costello (Many times with many different bands)
18. John Hiatt (Many times solo and with different bands)
19. Lyle Lovett (Seen him a bunch of times, met him a few, great guy humble!!!)
20. Steve Earle (He's sort of like a buddy of mine. Long story but no joke)
21. The Alarm (Many shows but The Beacon, Malibu on Mother’s Day and Hofstra stand out!!!)
22. Social Distortion (Brought them on stage for a sold out show at Mulcahy's. Mike is cool!!!)
23. BB King (Hung on his tour bus with him after one show. A great memory!!!)
24. Buddy Guy

38. The Allman Brothers Band (Many shows, brought them on stage a bunch of times at The Beacon!!!)
39. Jason And The Scorchers
40. Ozzy Osbourne (Met him after the show. Poor guy, I feel bad for him!!!)
41. Twisted Sister (I have even shared a stage with all 5 members!!!)
42. Garland Jeffries (Got to get up on stage and jam with him after I introduced him!!!)
43. The Byrds (McGuinn, Crosby and Hillman billed as The Byrds and Dylan came out and played also!!!)
44. John Mellencamp
45. The Rascals (reunion tour, genius!!!)
46. Van Morrison (Brilliant!!!)
47. U-2 (Top 5 of live bands)
48. Bob Dylan (He is hit or miss live but I've seen enough hits!!!)

Should you choose this challenge, here's what you do:
Copy my note. Click on “notes” under tabs on your profile page. Select "write a new note" in the top corner. Paste the copy in the body of the note. Make your list. Add your title. Once you've saved, don't forget to tag friends (including me) on the right.
