I don’t think you will see a more unfortunate case of putting your foot in your mouth, and a better case of exhibiting grace under pressure, than a few days ago on ’Today’.

Kathie Lee Gifford was chatting with Martin Short about his new movie when she proceeded to ask him how he and his wife have been able to stay happily married for over 35 years. On the surface that seemed perfectly fine, only that his wife passed away two years ago from cancer.

Now if anyone reserved the right to lose their head on national TV, it would have been Martin Short. But true to form, he played along and handled the exchange with complete poise and even snuck in some light-heartedness.

Sick of hearing about the boorish behavior that is so prevalent in Hollywood, I think the industry could stand to take a few pointers from one of its few good guys.
