Delivering a Knockout Punch to Long Island By Pete Rizzo
Mike Tyson is coming to Long Island. And while his days as ‘the baddest man on the planet’ are long over, my memories of his fights are still very fresh in my mind.
Say what you will about him, but I’ve never seen anyone punch harder than Tyson. Someone once described getting hit by Tyson as holding a gym mat to your face and then getting whacked across it with a sledge hammer.
One of my favorite memories as a kid was watching boxing matches with my father. Growing up on a steady diet of Muhammad Ali, Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler fights, Tyson was unlike anything I’d ever seen.
Tyson’s right hand to Larry Holmes’ mug at :11 of this video below is to this day the most devastating punch I’ve ever seen.
