The New Zealand Defense force released this video of their 1s and 2n Battalion performing what’s called the “Haka” ritual to honor their military dead after several soldiers were killed in Afghanistan.
The “Haka” is a traditional ancestral war cry, dance or challenge from the Māori / Kiwi people of New Zealand.
You may have seen the New Zealand rugby team's doing this before the start of matches as a way of intimidating the opposing team, (most recently it was featured in the movie “Invictus” starring Matt Damon.)
In this case the dance takes on a profound and deeply moving air about it, almost a way of warning others that one of their warriors is about to enter the next life.
