Al was nominated by his daughter Karen who says, “My dad joined the Melville Fire Department in 1951. He has been a member ever since. He has held every rank, including chief of the department. After his time as chief he was a fire commissioner for 20 years. Al was a Suffolk County fire coordinator and a member of the Huntington Chiefs council. At 91 years old he is still participating with committee work with the fire department.”
