The Bratender Challenge Winner Announced!

Years ago when I started doing the Sticky Finger Motorcycle run for Stony Brook Cancer Center Breast Cancer programs, I wore a bra during the run and have on every run since. To promote the first one I did a Bra Crawl. Yes I went bar to bar in a couple of towns wearing a bra and asked people to fill my cups with cash. That event mushroomed into the Bratender Challenge.

During the month of July, 16 bars, restaurants and breweries competed in the 2021 BRAtender Challenge to support breast cancer programs and services at the Stony Brook Cancer Center. Sponsored by WBAB and Blum’s in Patchogue, each establishment asked patrons to “bust out the bucks and fill the cups” of a uniquely decorated bra, in their quest to raise the most funds and win the BRAtender Challenge Trophy and an on-site appearance by the WBAB Street Team. The winner was announced on Saturday at the Comiskey Park Music Festival in St. James. We like to give a shout out to each of the contestants who helped to raise $13, 254! They are the Bellport Brewing Co, Comiskey Park, St. James, Maureen’s Kitchen, Smithtown, Home Towne Tavern, Ronkonkoma, Po’Boy Brewery, Port Jefferson Station, Hurricane Grill & Wings, in Manorville and Port Jefferson Station, I Heart Mac & Cheese, Hauppauge Rudi’s Bar & Grill, Patchogue, Long Ireland Beer Co, Riverhead, South Shore Craft Brewery, Oceanside, Spider Bite Beer Co, Holbrook, Ubergreek, Riverhead, Village Idiot, in Patchogue and Lake Grove, and the Westhampton Beach Brewing Co.

And the winner of the 2021 BRAtender Challenge is Maureen’s Kitchen, raising $4,551.

Congratulations and thank you to all of our participants. I will see you in late September early October in my bra! Detail to follow.
