The road to Shea Stadium began this month 43 years ago for the Police, and little more than 10 miles away.

The Police began their first U.S. tour in 1978 with two nights at New York’s [in]famous CBGB. Any footage online of those landmark gigs probably looks like this:

However, a recently discovered tape of those shows is being readied for release in the near future and may look and sound more like this:

It wouldn’t be long before The Police went from Coming to America to conquering it, culminating in their landmark Shea Stadium shows a mere five years later:
