Carrie Underwood and Axl Rose team up for Sweet Child o’ Mine

Carrie Underwood joining Guns N’ Roses onstage in Atlanta is not exactly the crossover I had on my bingo card. She came out in a black tank top and leopard-print shorts and jumped in with Axl Rose for “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” which is a pretty big change of scenery from the usual Carrie Underwood show.

But if you’ve been following her lately, this isn’t completely out of nowhere. Carrie’s been showing more of her rock side, and Axl has apparently been giving her some advice along the way. And look, nobody sounded like Axl in his prime, so taking on “Sweet Child O’ Mine” with him standing right there is a pretty serious challenge.

Now I’m curious where she takes this. Maybe it’s just something fun she wants to explore onstage, or maybe there’s more rock coming from Carrie down the road. Either way, I’m not mad at it. It’s always cool to see an artist step outside the lane everybody expects them to stay in.
