Chris was nominated by his colleague, Glenn Quinn, who said “Detective Christopher O’Connor was working as an NYPD detective In downtown Manhattan on the day when the Twin Towers fell on 9/11. O’Connor is now a retired Rockville Centre Police Department detective who suffers from 9/11 related illnesses, and has had multiple surgeries, as a result of his exposure on 9/11 and the weeks following. Some years before that, Chris donated bone marrow to a child who was ultimately saved by his generosity and selflessness. Detective O’Connor is not just a great cop and outstanding detective but a person to be admired as he battles ongoing physical ailments with dignity and humor. Detective O’Connor is also just a great guy who should be honored for the true hero he is and I highly recommend you consider him for WBAB’s First Responder recognition.”
