Detective Timothy Slevin | Honoree for June 18th, 2021

Tim was nominated by the Nassau County Detectives Association, who said, “Detective Timothy Slevin became a Police Officer of the NYPD in 1984. Tim transferred to the Nassau County Police Department in 1995. Tim has worked in many capacities for the NYPD and NCPD. Tim is currently in his 37th year of Law Enforcement and a First Grade Detective assigned to the Nassau County Police Departments Homicide Squad.

As a Homicide Detective no greater honor will be bestowed on an officer or a more profound Duty imposed on him than when he is entrusted with the investigation of the death of a human being. While working in the Homicide Squad, Detective Tim Slevin was tasked with investigating the brutal murders of young victims by MS-13 gang members in Nassau County. Tim’s investigations led to dozens of arrests and Tim was named Detective of the year by the Nassau County Detectives Association.

During Tim’s illustrious career and while in Homicide, he took their “Creed” very seriously. He made it his duty to find the facts regardless of the color or creed without prejudice and let no power on earth deter him from presenting these facts to the court without regard to personality. Tim always cared about doing the right thing and keeping the public safe.

Tim will be retiring shortly, but his morality and work ethic will be carried on by his son Timothy (TJ) Slevin, who will soon be graduating from the Nassau County Police Department.

Tim, thanks for all you do for the community. As a way of saying thanks, you will receive a $100 gift card to Moe’s Southwest Grill.
