Bands are struggling in 2020 with touring on hold due to the pandemic. The Flaming Lips have come up with a solution. A concert where the band and audience are in their own bubble. Here’s their “bubble” performance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert from June of 2020.
The Flaming Lips saw that the NBA played their season in a “bubble”. That’s where the NBA had all of the players from all of the teams in the same location for the entire season to protect them from COVID-19. The Flaming Lips decided to take the idea literally. The band and the audience will all be in their own bubbles for the concert. Here’s video from a recent show.
Singer WAYNE COYNE said, quote, "It seems absurd, but . . . it’s becoming kind of serious and real. . . . people in each of these space bubbles, and we play . . . two shows a night, and getting a big audience in there each time.”
Great idea and solution for a concert in 2020. It looks crazy and so much fun!
