Foo Are You?

The question of who will be playing drums for Foo Fighters going forward may be answered before long.

The band is planning a live stream on Sunday in which they will talk up their new album and promises “surprises”. Among them could be word that their new drummer is Josh Freese.

He’s a long time session drummer extraordinaire who has played with the likes of Devo, Guns N’ Roses, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, Sting and Weezer, and is long-rumored to be the heir apparent to the late Taylor Hawkins as Foo prepare to hit the road. Perhaps most importantly, Freese has been connected with Grohl and Hawkins for a long time and also played drums during the Taylor Hawkins tribute shows.

Also of note is The Offspring and Danny Elfman, both of which have replaced Freese behind the kit while he “clears his calendar”.

If what he does behind the kit with punk rockers The Vandals is any indication, Freese is more than up for the challenge.
