Iconic Eddie Van Halen guitars to be auctioned

A handful of rock-n-roll guitars have become iconic over the years but perhaps the most venerated would be those having been played by Eddie Van Halen.

Van Halen, who died earlier this month, will have two of his custom-designed guitars go up for auction in December. His famous red and white striped, 2004 EVH Charvel Art Series, and his black and white striped Fender Stratocaster, will be featured in the Icons & Idols Rock-N-Roll Auction through Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills.

Both guitars are both expected to sell for between $40,000 and $80,000. (Listen to the isolated guitar track of Eddie Van Halen performing “Hot For Teacher”).

The guitars are part of a larger auction of more than 700 historic rock-n-roll artifacts to be sold during the two-day event. Also included in the auction, are items from the Rolling Stones, Queen, Guns N' Roses, Madonna, Aerosmith, David Bowie, and a smashed guitar once played by Kurt Cobain.

Another item to be auctioned off is a Michael Jackson sequin glove, he worse during the 1984 Victory Tour. The glove is adorned with Swarovski crystals and has a pre-auction estimate of $50,000-$60,000
