James was nominated by his wife Deana who said, “James Shanahan was hired by The Nassau County Police Department on January 3rd 2007. Upon completion of the Police Academy he was assigned to the Third precinct. James spent 10 years in the Third Precinct and was assigned to Highway Patrol in April of 2017. He was chosen to go to the motorcycle platoon In September of 2017. In January of 2022 he was elected to the PBA board in the position of Financial Secretary, and in those four years he served membership with honor and integrity. He was tasked with looking after the widows and orphans of the fallen members of the department ,and he made them part of his own family and he loved them all as such. January 1 of 2026 he will return to the Nassau County motorcycle platoon where he will continue his honorable Police Career. His wife Deana Shanahan is proud to nominate him for the WBAB First Responder Friday.”
