Joe Rice was nominated by the Nassau County Police Medic Association who said, “Today we celebrate an incredible career and honor one of the very best, Joe Rice, who is retiring after a combined 40 years of dedicated service with the Lynbrook Fire Department and as a Nassau County Police Medic in the Emergency Ambulance Bureau. For four decades, Joe has answered the call without hesitation. Through his work with the Lynbrook Fire Department and as a Nassau County Police Medic, he brought skill, compassion, and unwavering calm to thousands of emergencies. He has also been a true mentor, guiding younger medics and firefighters with patience, wisdom, and leadership that set the standard for excellence.What truly makes Joe a legend is the way he treats every single person and patient like they are his own family. In people’s most vulnerable moments, he showed kindness, reassurance, and heart. He never just did the job. He cared deeply.From life saving calls in the back of an ambulance to standing shoulder to shoulder with his brothers and sisters in service, Joe’s impact is immeasurable.
